As a Physical Education Teacher, you will provide instruction in a variety of physical education activities to students. The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans in keeping with district guidelines, delivering individualized and group instruction, evaluating student&s;s progress, and effectively managing the class environment. Duties also include following the grading policies, keeping accurate records of student progress, conducting informal assessments of students enrolled in the P.E. program, writing IEP goals, and completing progress reports.

? Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and implementing the physical instruction processes for students with IEP's.

  • n
  • Collaborating with content teachers to provide support and approved modification to the curriculum.

  • n
  • Implementing standards for each student's education in order to ensure a safe, secure and effective learning environment by providing a high degree of structure, clear expectations, and consistency.

  • n
  • Establishing a climate that promotes a firm, fair and respectful environment with a focus on social development and group responsibility by modeling and reinforcing positive behaviors as outlined in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.

  • n
  • Implementing established school-wide PBIS programs, reinforcement systems, behavioral expectations and consequence guidelines.

  • n
  • Recording student progress/records, maintaining student files, and preparing reports on students and activities.

  • n
  • Providing direct subject based instruction and/or working in a team environment to collaboratively and/or co-teach curricular subjects as required in IEP.

  • n
  • Modifying curriculum and assisting with differentiated instruction for students as well as staff.

  • n
  • Reporting incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) in order to maintain the personal safety of students and adhere to State and Federal law.

  • Maintaining the physical center, furniture, and supplies in a neat and orderly condition according to procedure.

  • n
  • Ensuring that the center and outside surrounding area are neat, clean, well maintained and present an organized and professional environment conducive to the education of students.

  • Keeping up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area.

  • n
  • Responding constructively to formal and informal feedback.

  • n
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

? Qualifications Required:


n

  • n
  • Bachelors degree or higher in health education or related field.

  • n
  • Meet state teaching certification and/or licensing requirements.

  • n
  • Special education certification.

  • n
  • Prior experience with learning plan development, differentiation and instruction.

  • n
  • Highly skilled in working with students with severe emotional and/or behavioral disorders.
